There exists a very close relationship between production sound mixing and studio mastering. One cannot do well without the other doing well. All the critical choices and minute decisions to slightly alter the sound in the studio have large affects on the listening audience. A full sounding mix is not possible without clean dialogue tracks. Dialogue can be heard clearly only if mixed properly. All the chaos of recording in the field is in stark contrast to the quiet and comfortable environment of the studio. Here the sound is critically monitored and each element of a piece is carefully considered. Noise reduction technology may be applied. Music and sound effects are mixed in, audio levels are strictly monitored so as to make sure that what is being mixed here compares to what is being listened to everywhere! Whether you are listening in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound or just in mono from your built-in TV speakers, the mix will sound the same and the dialogue will be clear. Every time. Thats the trick!
